2025 Herocrats Recap

In 2025, we celebrated seven herocrats whose leadership reflects the values at the heart of public service: Courage, Connection, and Creativity.

These herocrats remind us that government workers across the country are still showing up every day with commitment to their communities. Their stories bring us hope: there are people inside our systems who love their work and the people they serve.

As we begin 2026, many in our communities are carrying grief, uncertainty, and fatigue, especially here in Minnesota. In moments like these, these leaders remind us that the path forward is built through trust, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to a better future.

Superpower #1 Courage

Definition: Standing firm in what’s right, even when it’s difficult.

• Dr. Jasmine Grika bridges state government and Tribal Nations through her values-based leadership.

• Millicent Kasal believes courage grows when people feel supported, not when they’re standing alone.

Superpower #2 Connection

Definition: Building trust, belonging, and relationships that make change possible.

• Zafar Siddiqui shows active listening and vulnerability creates a more collaborative government.

• Angie DeLille believes that cultural connection is important to public health and community well-being.

• Pang Yang makes public spaces hubs of community belonging, connection, and sharing.

Superpower #3 Creativity

Definition: Finding new paths forward.

• Helen Ghebre tries new strategies to increase the reach of community engagement initiatives, even when change feels scary.

• Bonnie Parker uses limited resources strategically to bring youth voices into government planning processes.
